| Students work on their own projects at their own pace. Some follow traditional training: starting to draw with pencil, then charcoal, then learning to paint first in black & white oils, then in color. Some students are working on portraits from photographs. Others are working on still lifes that they have set up in the studio. Everyone gets individual instruction but benefits from hearing and seeing what the other students are doing. |

| Students paint or draw the live model who holds one pose for the whole 11 Sessions. This allows the student to learn to see the shapes, lights and darks, and color that creates a likeness that is very lifelike and seems very 3-dimensional. Frequent critiques allow the students to progress as rapidly as they are able. |
